Evans City Council approves Arrowhead Open Space Redevelopment

In what marks another significant step in achieving the goal of making Evans the community of choice in Northern Colorado, at Tuesday’s regular Evans City Council Meeting, unanimous approval was given to contract with Tuston Construction to transform the Arrowhead Open Space into an exciting new parkland environment, nature space, and passive community park.

The Arrowhead Open Space redevelopment will include trails, bike racks, a picnic shelter, planted and natural green space, scenic overlooks and ample open space for residents and visitors to enjoy the splendid Northern Colorado environment. Having this new space along 37th Street at the western gateway to the City will create an enticing invitation for locals and passersby alike to discover and explore Evans.

Using the dedicated reserves of the Park Impact Fund, this brilliant new addition to the Evans Parks System was designed and will be developed without using any General Fund monies and came in significantly under budget. The concept, design, and construction work approved by the City Council, our partners Confluent Design and Tuston Construction came in under the budgeted amount by over $200,000. This is another win for the Evans taxpayer as significant savings were realized for a major project.

The City of Evans is so excited for the Arrowhead Open Space to be developed into a space where our dynamic and diverse community can celebrate and enjoy their shared American heritage. The current plans have work on the project beginning this spring with a targeted completion by the end of July.
