Parking and Inoperable Vehicles

Please be aware of parking signs throughout our community.

Some helpful reminders:

  • Parking violations may include a wide range of offenses of city code and state law.
  • For parking violations posing an immediate safety hazard, blocking access, or in violation of no parking signs, please contact the Evans Police Department at (970) 356-1212
  • For parking violations on private property, abandoned vehicles or other violations, please contact the City of Evans Neighborhood Services division at (970) 475-1115.

Inoperable vehicles and vehicles for sale are treated differently under the Evans Municipal Code.

An inoperable vehicle, as defined by Section 8.24.100 of the Evans Municipal Code is defined as, "...a vehicle or trailer in a condition of being junked, wrecked, wholly or partially dismantled, discarded, missing parts or equipment necessary to operate the vehicle or trailer safely and legally on a public right-of-way, including but not limited to any flat tires or any part of said vehicle being supported by jacks, blocks or other supports, or any vehicle or trailer lacking properly displayed current license plates."

Any inoperable vehicle must be stored in a garage or other building and only one (1) is allowed per property. An inoperable vehicle that is undergoing restoration work may be kept outdoors on a property so long as said vehicle is stored behind a standard privacy fence.

Up to two (2) vehicles per property that are currently listed for sale are permitted under City Code. The for sale vehicles are not allowed to be parked on the roadway or in any public right-of-way of any street, alley or intersection within City limits. For sale vehicles are not allowed to be parked on public property and will be towed at the owners expense when discovered by the City.
