TightKnit Brewing

You’ve probably heard of TightKnit Brewing. But did you know that they do all their brewing, canning and distribution right here in Evans?

Tommy Dyer, Phil Jorgenson, and head brewer R.W. Collett make up the team that have taken the company from its origin as Brix Brew & Tap, to what we know today as TightKnit. Creating beloved brews such as 8^th Street Red and Greeley Beer Pilsner, this local brewery has a loyal following.

After closing their Greeley brewpub in December, TightKnit has pivoted to focus on distribution, which has been a successful avenue for the company. But they didn’t want to lose the interaction with their customers, which was one of their favorite things about their brewpub. As a result, you can visit their facility in Evans on Friday and Saturday evenings and get a behind-the-scenes look at their brewing process.

“We are looking forward to opening the first brewery in Evans!  A brewery we hope will make Evans proud.  Our first labels with ‘Brewed in Evans, Colorado,’ will be out in the public by the time this newsletter hits their inbox,” says Jorgenson.

Their glistening Evans location has a canning machine, fermenters, barrels for aging special brews and more. These areas will be roped off, but visible to visitors who come by for a pint.

The fermenters have each been given a name, such as Phyllis, Jean and Lucille. The one named Lucille has a great story, as told by Jorgenson: ”One of Tommy's great grandmas is named Lucille who was born during the Spanish flu outbreak in 1920 and Tommy's daughter Lucy, my granddaughter, was named after her and born in 2020 during the COVID pandemic.”

How can you help support TightKnit? Jorgenson has some ideas: “Everyone can help us by asking for TightKnit Beer wherever they go.  To a restaurant, a bar, or a liquor store.  Let them know you want TightKnit Brewing in their store.  We will support Evans back by brewing the best tasting beers people can enjoy.  When someone asks about the best area breweries, we want people to say, ‘TightKnit Brewing in Evans!’  You can support your city, and TightKnit Brewing by buying our products in Evans too and keeping your tax dollars right here by shopping in Evans.”

TightKnit’s hours are Friday 4-9 p.m. and Saturdays 2-9 p.m. They are also available for private parties.
